Job summary

Iteris, Inc. seeks a Sr. Engineer to advance transportation planning and engineering projects for public sector clients.

You will manage complex programs, mentor staff, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and lead regulatory compliance studies in collaboration with state and local agencies. Ideal candidates have 6–8 years of consulting/public-sector experience, a relevant degree, and professional licensure or certifications; strong communication and proficiency with major transport tools are

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• 6–8 years of consulting/public-sector transportation planning experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Awareness of current transportation trends and modal analysis.
• Licensure or certifications in PE/TE/PTOE/PTP/AICP desired.
• Proficiency with transportation planning tools listed above.
• Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex transportation projects from inception to completion.
• Track budgets, schedules, and scopes of work to ensure profitability and timely delivery.
• Direct and mentor junior staff and guide their professional development.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead long-range transportation plans such as General Plan Circulation Elements and Complete Streets plans.
• Lead SB 743 compliance evaluations and VMT assessments.
• Manage transportation components of CEQA/NEPA documents for major projects.
• Analyze multimodal data and develop data-driven recommendations.
• Serve as primary contact for public agency clients and present findings to councils and commissions.
• Support public outreach programs and identify upcoming RFP opportunities.
• Lead preparation of competitive proposals including scopes, staffing, and budgets.
• Participate in interview presentations to secure new contracts.
• Local travel will be required for project-related tasks and client meetings.
