Job summary

Yuma Metropolitan Planning Organization (YMPO) seeks a Senior Transportation Planner to lead complex regional transportation planning and programming efforts. The role requires coordinating with federal, state, tribal, and local partners, supervising staff, and managing projects from scope through deliverables.

The position emphasizes technical leadership, data analysis, and public involvement, with a focus on TIP/LRTP processes and grant opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, transportation planning, or planning-related field; five years of professional planning experience with supervisory experience.
• Master’s degree preferred; AICP certification preferred; valid Arizona driver’s license may be required.
• Knowledge of federal/state planning requirements and grant opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate development, maintenance, amendment, and implementation of metropolitan planning documents (TIP/LRTP).
• Manage complex regional studies, programs, and projects from initiation to completion with budgets and deliverables.
• Develop scopes of work, assist with RFPs/RFQs, and oversee consultant work and contract administration.
• Coordinate with YMPO member agencies and federal/state partners; provide staff support to TAC and Executive Board.
• Present technical analyses and facilitate public involvement and outreach activities.
