Job summary

MRCOG/MRMPO seeks a Technical Transportation Planner to support regional TSMO and ITS planning across the Albuquerque Metropolitan Planning Area (AMPA). The role also coordinates travel demand modeling, long-range roadway updates, freight planning, and asset management while overseeing contracts and technical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban or Regional Planning, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience in planning, engineering, transportation, or a closely related field.
• Experience with desktop GIS (ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro) and GIS software such as QGIS is preferred.
• Experience with Python or other coding languages and statistical models is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate regional TSMO and ITS planning with local, state, and federal agencies and partners.
• Support development and maintenance of regional ITS planning documents.
• Lead MPO committees such as ITS Subcommittee, Roadway Access Control Committee and Freight Committee.
• Support short- and long-range transportation planning including freight planning and asset management.
• Lead travel forecasting and applications of the regional travel demand model.
• Oversee model enhancements, surveys, calibration, and data collection.
• Prepare analyses, reports, maps, and presentations for committees and the public.
