Senior Transportation Planner — Lead Multimodal Planning

Job summary

HNTB is seeking a senior planning professional to lead complex transportation planning projects in Dallas, coordinating with multiple disciplines from concept to completion.

You will guide NEPA studies, planning policy, and grant strategies while mentoring staff and managing client relationships. This role may serve as project manager on select large projects, delivering results on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 10 years of experience or
• Master's degree plus 9 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Performs highly complex planning, environmental planning, urban design project responsibilities and leads technical tasks.
• Writes and reviews major sections of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents; coordinates contributions.
• Leads production of graphics, reports, scopes of work, fee proposals and responses to RFPs.
• Prepares budgets, invoicing, and billing; conducts public and stakeholder engagement.
• Provides guidance and mentors staff; coordinates with clients, sub-consultants, and in-house teams.
• Recommends process improvements to increase efficiency and service delivery.
• Supports department managers with strategic planning, staffing, and special projects.
• May serve as project manager or task lead.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
