Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation is hiring a Transportation Planner/Analyst 4 in the Roadway Systems Section in Carson City, NV. The incumbent oversees roadway data programs, budgets and staff, ensuring accuracy of highway data, federal and state reporting, and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities include coordinating with partners, developing procedures, and guiding multimodal planning efforts to support transportation funding and planning objectives in Nevada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, statistics, economics or related field.
• Five years of professional transportation analysis, planning or research experience.
• Two years in a supervisory capacity; alternatively Nevada state service as Transportation Planner/Analyst III.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight for staff, consultants and service providers and monitor performance for federally funded programs.
• Oversee data collection equipment and field data operations (traffic, system characteristics, GPS).
• Conduct transportation studies, analyze data, and prepare reports with recommendations.
• Coordinate training for staff on equipment and procedures; share information with public and agencies.
• Engage with statewide and regional multimodal needs across aviation, bicycles, freight, motorists, pedestrians, rail and transit.
• Develop program policies, budgets and monitor federal/state grants following guidelines.
• Supervise subordinate staff and guide project teams in executing mandated programs.
