Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation in Carson City, NV seeks a Staff 1, Associate Engineer underfill to support the Traffic Operations Division on signals, lighting and ITS planning, design and inspection. Under the supervision of a registered engineer, you will develop plans, coordinate with other divisions and agencies, and help maintain standards.

The role may progress to Staff 2 AE upon meeting minimum qualifications and performance.

Qualifications

Certification or degree as required by the Nevada state board for licensure as an engineer.
An Engineer Intern could qualify with a Bachelor's in civil engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience at journey level or technical experience equivalent to Engineering Technician III may apply.
Staff I may progress to Staff II AE after qualifications and performance.

Responsibilities

Participate in planning, design, analysis and inspection of transportation projects.
Design and analyze traffic systems including signal and lighting, and ITS elements.
Review plans and estimates for compliance with standards.
Assist in maintaining signal, lighting and ITS standards and specifications.
Support the Traffic Operations Division with special projects and programs.
