Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for transportation operations across multiple locations.
• Develop and execute transportation strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
• Establish performance expectations and hold leaders accountable for results.
• Drive improvements in safety, service, productivity, and profitability.
• Monitor KPIs, costs, labor, equipment utilization, and customer service levels.
• Provide leadership with regular reporting on performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost-control, and profitability initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve routing, fleet utilization, and efficiency.
• Ensure DOT, FMCSA, OSHA compliance and related requirements.
• Build and retain a strong transportation leadership team.
• Collaborate with HR on recruiting, performance management, and leadership development.
• Develop relationships with key customers and support new business opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement and technology initiatives across transportation operations.

The Senior Transportation Operations Leader provides senior-level leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the company’s transportation operations. This position reports directly to Corporate Leadership and is accountable for operational excellence, safety, customer service, financial performance, asset utilization, and leadership development across the transportation organization. This leader will establish clear expectations, drive accountability, and develop strategies that support continued growth, efficiency, and profitability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership and oversight for transportation operations across multiple locations and customer operations.
• Develop and execute transportation strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
• Establish performance expectations and hold transportation leaders accountable for operational and financial results.
• Drive improvements in safety, service, productivity, profitability, asset utilization, and driver performance.
• Monitor key performance indicators, operating costs, labor performance, equipment utilization, and customer service levels.
• Provide Corporate Leadership with regular reporting on performance, risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
• Lead transportation budgeting, forecasting, cost-control, and profitability initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve routing, fleet utilization, driver productivity, maintenance coordination, and operating efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Build, develop, and retain a strong transportation leadership team.
• Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, retention, performance management, workforce planning, and leadership development.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
• Support new business opportunities, operational startups, customer implementations, acquisitions, and transportation network expansion.
• Drive continuous improvement and technology initiatives throughout transportation operations.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, urgency, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive transportation or logistics leadership experience.
• Significant experience leading large-scale, multi-site transportation operations.
• Strong knowledge of fleet operations, dedicated transportation, driver management, DOT/FMCSA compliance, and transportation economics.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, operating results, cost controls, and profitability.
• Proven ability to build high-performing teams and develop operational leaders.
• Strong financial, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate operational performance and recommendations to Corporate Leadership.
• Willingness to travel regularly to transportation operations and customer locations.
