Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Resident Maintenance Engineer to organize, plan, and coordinate county maintenance unit activities, including road and bridge repairs and schedules.

The role includes supervising staff, ensuring safety, quality, and cost effectiveness, and adhering to SCDOT policies while coordinating with interdepartmental groups and emergency responses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management is required.
• Five (5) years of engineering or construction management work experience required.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans, and coordinates activities of a county maintenance unit.
• Supervises maintenance work on Interstates, primary and secondary roadways and bridges.
• Ensures performance, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness per SCDOT policies.
