Job summary
VDOT seeks an experienced transportation engineer to provide expert review and leadership across major transportation projects. You will coordinate with local governments, developers and FHWA, and lead or participate in multi-disciplinary teams to analyze traffic impacts and ensure compliance with design standards.

Qualifications
- Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to complex transportation projects.
- Ability to interpret regulations and apply them to design and planning tasks.
- Experience with land development plan reviews, traffic impact studies, and site plan reviews.
- Knowledge of ITE, AASHTO, and VDOT regulations and standards.
- Strong communication with diverse stakeholders and ability to present technical information.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering expertise in assigned program areas and resolve project issues.
- Communicate with internal staff, local governments, consultants, and citizens regarding transportation projects.
- Assist in developing and monitoring policies and procedures for engineering programs.
- Review complex development plans, waivers, and exceptions for sound engineering design.
