Job summary

Egis Group invites applications for a Chief Inspector to support transportation infrastructure projects across Connecticut. The role focuses on supervising inspection staff, coordinating with clients and CTDOT, and ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil Engineering/Construction Management background, PE/CCM preferred, and a track record of leading field teams on highway, bridge, and drainage construction projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of construction inspection experience on transportation infrastructure projects.
• Experience as Chief Inspector on CTDOT transportation projects is required.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; travel to CT project sites.
• Proficiency with construction documentation software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise construction inspection staff on transportation projects.
• Serve as primary field representative between client, contractor, CTDOT, and project team.
• Monitor contractor activities for compliance with plans, specs, permits, schedules, and quality.
• Review and interpret drawings, shop drawings, and contract documents.
• Coordinate and document daily construction activities, including labor, equipment, and materials.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and project correspondence; verify pay quantities.
• Conduct field measurements and quality assurance inspections; ensure safety compliance.
• Attend meetings and mentor junior inspectors and field staff.
