Job summary

GFT seeks an experienced Chief Inspector to lead field inspection on roadway and bridge projects in Connecticut, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to contract requirements. The role focuses on supervising inspection personnel, coordinating with CTDOT representatives, and overseeing schedules and reporting to keep projects on time and within budget.

You will review contractor documentation, manage change orders, maintain safety compliance, and prepare comprehensive project reports.

Qualifications

• Requires Connecticut professional credentials (PE, CCM or EIT) with 5–6 years of relevant construction experience or NICET Level IV with 10–12 years of experience.
• Experience supervising construction inspection personnel on roadway/bridge projects and CTDOT familiarity is preferred.
• Ability to oversee field inspection activities, review schedules, payments, change orders, and contractor documentation; strong communication and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee field inspection operations for roadway and bridge construction projects in Connecticut.
• Supervise inspection personnel and coordinate with CTDOT representatives and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specs, and safety standards; manage documentation and progress reviews.
• Prepare weekly/monthly project reports and manage cost-to-complete analyses.
• Approve change orders, oversee schedules, and coordinate shop drawings and RFIs; lead project meetings.
