Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers in Virginia seeks a Senior Construction Manager to provide strategic direction and oversight of all construction management functions from pre-design through post-construction phases. Qualifications

• Competent consultation skills and excellent oral and written communications.
• Comprehensive knowledge of transportation engineering, methods and procedures.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to administer complex programs, involving procurement, transportation contracts, construction, land development and policy development.
• Demonstrated ability to administer functions related to budget management, financial oversight, statistical reporting and staff development.
• Skill in resolving complex engineering and contractual disputes and customer focused skills as related to program delivery.
• Valid Professional Engineer's license.

Responsibilities

• Compliance oversight of the program area to ensure adherence to VDOT, state, and federal policies and guidelines.
• Direct, guide, and support District Construction Engineers in contract management and on-site field activities.
• Provide environmental compliance guidance for Local Assistance Program projects.
• Establish objectives and priorities for the team and align with division goals.
• Develop statewide project risk management processes, policies, and procedures.
• Apply sound engineering practices to resolve program issues and improve performance.
• Evaluate program performance and implement improvements based on field coordination and reviews.
