Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking a Principal Engineer, Transportation to provide senior technical direction for complex transportation projects in the Texas market. This role translates client objectives into effective design solutions and guides multidisciplinary teams from concept through final delivery.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license, 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, and a proven record of mentoring staff and delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Requires ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in required states.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive engineering experience.
• Experience leading complex projects and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for complex engineering projects from concept through final design, permitting, construction, or implementation.
• Establish technical approaches, design criteria, and work plans; evaluate alternatives and optimize balance of quality, risk, cost, and schedule.
• Review and approve calculations, plans, specifications, and other technical deliverables for accuracy and standards compliance.
• Resolve complex technical issues and guide project teams, clients, agencies, subconsultants, and contractors.
• Mentor and develop engineers and designers; promote sound engineering judgment and quality practices.
• Coordinate with project managers on scope, staffing, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
• Support proposals, client presentations, and business-development activities within the service area.
• Contribute to QA/QC practices and standardization of design tools and workflows.
• Represent the firm professionally with clients and stakeholders.
