Hanson Professional Services Inc. in Illinois is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineering Manager to lead major highway projects and oversee roadway design teams.

You will provide technical direction, mentor staff, manage schedules and reviews, and coordinate with clients, IDOT, and Tollway. A Bachelor's in civil engineering and 10+ years in engineering with 6+ years in roadway design are required, plus an Illinois PE or reciprocity within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
• 10+ years of professional engineering experience.
• Minimum of six years of roadway design or transportation engineering experience, including work for IDOT and/or the Illinois Tollway.
• Illinois Professional Engineer license, or the ability to obtain an Illinois license through reciprocity within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a group of engineers and technical staff on transportation projects.
• Serve as project engineer on complex assignments, coordinating disciplines and subconsultants, managing design activities, supporting schedules, and reviewing deliverables.
• Coach and mentor staff through regular feedback, career discussions, technical guidance, stretch assignments, and performance reviews.
• Forecast staffing needs by evaluating backlog, pursuits, resource availability, and capabilities gaps.
• Develop roadway design solutions for interstate, tollway, urban arterial, and local road projects.
• Direct the development of construction plans and contract documents; author technical reports and provisions.
• Guide roadway design teams using OpenRoads Designer and internal training resources.
• Review complex calculations, reports, plans, and deliverables.
• Lead or support client relationships, pursuits, scopes, fees, and proposals.
• Provide occasional support for public involvement activities.
• Travel occasionally for client meetings and site visits.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
