Job summary

Caltrans is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer, Supervising, to lead the Construction Engineering Office Unit for District 10 in San Joaquin County. You will plan and direct Change Order reviews, estimates, records management, and project closeout for complex transportation construction projects.

The role may include telework; employees may be required to report to the headquarters as needed. Candidates must hold a Civil Engineering Certificate and a Civil PE license, plus a valid driver’s

Qualifications

Civil Engineering Certificate is required; provide a copy prior to hire.
Professional Engineering License (Civil) is required.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required for operating a State vehicle.
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required; must be two pages, 12-point font, and address listed criteria.

Responsibilities

Directs, plans, and coordinates Change Order review, estimates, records management, claims handling, and project closeout for high‑difficulty transportation construction.
Leads the Construction Engineering Office Unit staff under general direction to execute district projects.
Supervises construction engineers and personnel involved in district construction activities.
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and supports telework arrangements as applicable.
