Job summary
ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ADOT) is seeking a Regional Traffic Engineer to supervise TES staff, review traffic engineering plans, and guide technical reviews. The role focuses on MUTCD compliance for signing, striping, and signals, while coordinating with partners on traffic impact studies and RSA work.
The position requires a Civil Engineering background, Arizona PE (or eligibility with 6-month timeline), and a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
- Arizona PE license required; if licensed elsewhere, obtain Arizona PE within 6 months.
- Valid driver's license and option to operate state vehicles.
- Experience leading or mentoring staff is preferred.
- Experience with MUTCD, signing, striping, and traffic signals is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Review development plans for MUTCD compliance and operational efficiency.
- Prepare traffic engineering studies and RSA support as needed.
- Supervise TES Grade 22 staff and guide workload planning.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local officials on traffic issues.
- Attend project meetings and produce formal traffic reports.
