Job summary

PINPOINT PRECISION ENGINEERING in Illinois seeks a Senior Transportation Engineer to lead roadway design efforts and oversee project teams. The role requires an active IL PE license and 10+ years of transportation engineering experience.

You will review plans, stamp designs, and coordinate with public agencies, utilities, and consultants to deliver complex projects on time and within standards. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant transportation engineering experience.
  • Strong leadership and project management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plan sets and specifications for roadway projects under current standards.
  • Review and approve designs and stamp engineering plans.
  • Perform CAD modeling from concept to final design.
  • Represent agency with public authorities and utilities during meetings.
  • Lead staff and consultants to deliver local projects on schedule.

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Engineer to join our dynamic team. At Pinpoint Precision Engineering, your expertise will drive our success as one of Illinois’ fastest-growing engineering firms, securing Prime Consultant roles with prestigious clients like IDOT, Illinois Tollway, ComEd, Verizon, AT&T, and more.

Here’s What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like
  • Utilize professional engineering license to apply current engineering principles and theories, design specifications, and federal, state, and local design standards to develop plan sets and specifications for roadway projects;
  • Prepare and review plans, making decisions regarding layouts, alignments, standard designs, tabulations, specifications, quantities, acquisitions and clearances, etc.;
  • Review and approve designs for assigned projects and stamping the engineering plans;
  • Perform computer-aided drafting and modeling for conceptual through final design preparation;
  • Serve as various government agencies representative and provide expertise in meetings with public, local/state entities, businesses, railroads, special interest groups, utilities, consultants, contractors, and specialty units; and
  • Manage the work of staff and consultants for local agencies in order to accomplish project completions.

You’ll be a great fit if you have this:
  • 10+ years of Experience;
  • IL Professional Engineering licensed required;
  • Knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD and other manuals relative to this role;
  • Knowledge of State, Municipal, CTA, and Metra systems and operations;
  • Exceptional leadership skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing assignments;
  • Strong networking skills, and able to develop business and partner with public and private organizations
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills;
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Strong attention to technical detail and accuracy;
  • Proficient in MicroStation, Projectwise, Synchro, Civil3D,GeoPAK, ArcGis, and BlueBeam. Knowledge of Open Roads Designer is a plus ;
  • Experience with Permitting;
  • Experience with Phase I Traffic & Environmental Studies;
  • Experience with Phase II Design;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; and
  • Self-Motivated and Ambitious.
Compensation

The salary range listed represents a good-faith estimate of compensation for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, licensure, technical expertise, business development capabilities, and overall alignment with the role.
