Job summary

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and success in managing, executing, and delivering complex projects as well as developing client relationships within transportation services
  • Responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
  • Client development, maintenance, and management; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling; and the establishment of critical project objectives and performances
  • Time management to manage multiple transportation projects at one time
  • Leading a team of engineers and drafters, providing guidance, and fostering collaboration
  • Ensuring the quality of project deliverables, including designs and specifications
  • Interacting and communicating effectively with team members, clients, and other agencies

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and plan production teams to successfully deliver roadway, structural, infrastructure, and transportation projects
  • Oversee planning, design, and execution of transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Develop and manage client relationships; prepare contracts; coordinate with regulatory agencies
  • Coordinate with subconsultants and manage project teams of engineers and drafters
  • Direct and train staff on project engineering (roadway geometrics, corridor models, staging)
  • Prepare project design and environmental reports; participate in proposals and contracts
  • Manage project financials and budgeting; identify and mitigate risks
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; participate in quality control/assurance

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • PE license required (Illinois)
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in transportation design
  • Familiarity with Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois Tollway design engineering practices, standards, and documentation
  • Experience with Microstation V81 SS10, OpenRoads Designer Connect Edition (CE), ProjectWise, AutoTURN, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam
  • Ability to collaborate with the design team, clients, and agencies
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Good decision-making skills, flexibility, focus on quality, and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
