Job summary

Pinpoint Precision Engineering is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in Chicago. This role is suited for someone with a Professional Engineer license who has a strong technical background in infrastructure projects.

As a senior engineer, you'll oversee planning, design, and project delivery while mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in construction management, a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, and excellent

  • 10+ years of experience with infrastructure construction management.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois required.
  • Fluent with computer programs and software including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties as the Assistant Resident Engineer for projects.
  • Inspect and monitor field work daily for conformance.
  • Consult with contractors on work progress and issues.
  • Review equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates.
  • Monitor schedules, change orders, and daily reports.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing team of engineering professionals. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer who brings strong technical expertise, a passion for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects, and a commitment to mentoring the next generation of engineers. As a Senior Engineer at Pinpoint, you will play a critical role in the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects while serving as a trusted technical resource for project teams and clients. Here’s What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like
  • Performing duties as the Assistant Resident Engineer and assisting with delivering quality infrastructure projects for state, municipal, and private clients.
  • Inspects and monitors field work daily activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Consults with contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems.
  • Reviews equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates.
  • Will ensure that where procedures and materials fail to meet requirements, it is properly documented both photographically and in writing.
  • Monitor schedules, change orders, and daily reports.
  • Perform facilities inspections as required.
  • Knowledge of IDOT, CDOT, Tollway, and other agencies' systems and operations.
  • Perform roadway inspections as required.

You’ll be a great fit if you have this:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related;
  • Illinois Professional Engineer License required;
  • IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities (DOCQ) Certification;
  • Fluent with computer programs and software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe, Microstation, ePas, CmMS, Trimble eBuilder etc...;
  • 10+ years of experience with infrastructure construction management;
  • Knowledge of State, Municipal, CTA, and Metra systems and operations;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to write routine technical reports and correspondence; and
  • Self-Motivated and Ambitious.
Compensation:

The compensation range is a good-faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skill set, and licensure, technical expertise, business development capabilities, and overall alignment with the role.
