Job summary

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. is seeking an Engineer IV, Transportation Planner to join our Chicago, IL team. The role focuses on specialized transportation design, project leadership, and collaboration across regional teams.

You will contribute to road and multimodal design, CAD standards, and QA/QC of deliverables while engaging with clients and stakeholders to advance project objectives. A PE is preferred and 10+ years of experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• PE license preferred.
• 10+ years of work experience in advanced transportation/transportation infrastructure projects.
• Experience with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, and county/municipal/local agency Phase I projects.
• Active participation in advanced training and seminars.
• Valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation to/from office/site preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation design projects and coordinate regional teams to ensure design quality and consistency.
• Develop CAD standards and contribute to specialty plan development.
• Attend advanced training, seminars, and public meetings to assimilate new technologies and standards.
• Lead project/agency meetings and mentor staff to improve capabilities.
• Assist in proposal preparation and business development activities.
