Job summary

Fuss & O’Neill is seeking a Transportation Design Engineer – Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex roadway projects in Connecticut. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and collaborate with clients and DOT agencies to deliver high-quality transportation solutions.

This hybrid role offers in-office collaboration with flexibility to work remotely part of the week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 10+ years of experience in transportation engineering.
• Roadway/highway design experience required.
• Proven experience managing complex infrastructure projects from concept through construction.
• Experience working with DOT agencies (Connecticut DOT experience strongly preferred).
• Strong knowledge of transportation design standards, regulations, and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple transportation design projects, with a focus on highways and roadways, for municipal and state clients.
• Oversee all phases of project delivery—from planning and design through construction.
• Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful outcomes.
• Coordinate internal teams and collaborate on staff allocation and workload planning.
• Support recruitment and team growth initiatives in partnership with leadership.
• Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and project updates.
