We believe that each day is an opportunity to support one another, to support our clients, and to support our communities. If you feel the same, then you’ve found your future.

We are seeking a Transportation Design Engineer – Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex roadway and highway projects in Connecticut. This is a high-impact opportunity for a motivated leader to manage projects from concept through construction while helping shape safer, more efficient transportation systems across the region.

In this role, you’ll serve as both a technical expert and project leader, guiding multidisciplinary teams, partnering with clients, and mentoring emerging talent—all while delivering high-quality transportation solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple transportation design projects, with a focus on highways and roadways, for municipal and state clients
  • Oversee all phases of project delivery—from planning and design through construction
  • Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful outcomes
  • Coordinate internal teams and collaborate on staff allocation and workload planning
  • Support business development efforts, including proposals, pursuits, and client strategy
  • Provide technical expertise in roadway and highway design and construction management
Ensure compliance with client requirements, DOT standards, and regulatory guidelines
  • Perform QA/QC reviews to maintain high-quality deliverables
  • Identify risks and proactively resolve technical and project challenges
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and project managers
  • Support recruitment and team growth initiatives in partnership with leadership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for DOT agencies, municipalities, and project stakeholders
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and project updates
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships to support repeat business and partnerships
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 10+ years of experience in transportation engineering
  • Roadway/highway design experience required
  • Proven experience managing complex infrastructure projects from concept through construction
  • Experience working with DOT agencies (Connecticut DOT experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of transportation design standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related design/modeling tools
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship skills

This is a hybrid role, offering the best of both worlds—collaborate in-office with a high-performing team and enjoy the flexibility of working remotely part of the week. We’re committed to supporting work-life balance while maintaining strong team connection and project delivery.
