Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking an Inspector III - Transportation Construction to perform skilled professional inspections on public works projects and enforce regulations. You will lead other inspectors, coordinate with engineers and contractors, and ensure conformance with city standards.

Requires four years of inspection experience, a high school diploma or GED (or an approved equivalent), and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Four (4) years of inspection experience in streets, drainage, water/sewer/bridges projects.
Equivalency: Associate degree plus 2 years of relevant experience meets requirements.
Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Subject to fieldwork conditions.

Responsibilities

Conducts inspections of public works construction projects to ensure compliance with safety, codes, and standards.
Issues notices of violation and conducts follow-up inspections.
Inspects projects to verify conformance with paving, utility, and construction standards.
Oversees other inspectors and collaborates with engineers, contractors, and agencies.
Plans inspection routes, documents findings, and prepares pass/fail reports.
Keeps updated list of materials and verifies invoice quantities for payment.
Provides professional customer service and guidance to project stakeholders.
Performs other duties as needed.
