Job summary

UNICO Engineering is seeking a Senior Construction Engineer in California to support Resident Engineers on transportation projects. You will review plans, monitor budgets, prepare closeout documents, and ensure compliance with Caltrans and local agency standards.

Requirements include a CA PE license, a BS in Construction Management or Civil/Structural Engineering, and 4+ years of relevant experience (or 10 years). Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered CA Professional Engineer required.
• BS in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Eng with 4+ years of relevant Construction Engineering experience, OR 10 years experience.
• Experience with Caltrans and local agency standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and attend meetings with Contractor, client agencies, and the public.
• Establish and maintain project records.
• Review RFIs and letters; respond to submittals.
• Document and authorize payments for the project.
• Review Contractor work for compliance.
• Review extra work and cost/time analyses.
• Participate in pre, mid, and post-construction reviews.
• Manage and forecast project budgets; draft responses to NOPCs/claims.
• Maintain as-built drawings.
• Prepare final project closeout documents.
