Job summary

UNICO Engineering in Northern California seeks a seasoned Resident Engineer to lead transportation projects under local, state, and federal funding. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of industry experience and 5 years managing projects as a resident engineer for a public agency.

This role requires strong verbal and written communication, the ability to coordinate owners, contractors and staff, and to ensure compliance with plans, specs, and cost/schedule controls.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• 10+ years of industry experience in construction/engineering.
• 5 years managing construction projects or as a resident engineer for a public agency.

Responsibilities

• Serve as owner's representative, attending and leading client and contractor meetings and reviewing plans and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with contract documents and provide project documentation (letters, RFIs, submittals, change orders).
• Oversee field inspection, supervise inspection teams, and provide technical guidance and quality assurance.
• Maintain project controls including cost and schedule management and coordinate with clients, consultants, and regulators.
