Job summary

UNICO Engineering, Inc. seeks a Construction Engineer with 2–5 years of experience to support Resident Engineers in delivering transportation projects in Northern and Central California. EIT is required; PE preferred. Strong communication, teamwork, and knowledge of Caltrans processes are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or equivalent certification.
• BS in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Engineering with 2+ years of relevant construction experience OR 8+ years of construction engineering experience.
• EIT or PE license status may influence compensation and advancement.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and attend meetings with the Contractor, client agencies, and the public as necessary.
• Establish and maintain project records.
• Review RFIs and letters and respond promptly.
• Review and process submittals for compliance.
• Document and authorize project payments.
• Review the Contractor's work for conformity with plans and specs.
• Perform cost and time impact analysis on extra work.
• Participate in pre, mid, and post-construction reviews.
• Manage and forecast project budgets.
• Prepare final closeout documents and maintain as-built drawings.
