Job summary

Felsburg Holt & Ullevig in the Great Plains region is seeking a senior structures engineer to lead transportation design projects across the Midwest, focusing on roadway and rail structures. The role includes project management on pursuits and serving as a primary client contact.

Requires a civil/transportation engineering degree with 10–15 years of bridge/structural experience and proficiency with structural analysis software; Nebraska/Iowa/South Dakota bridge design experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/transportation engineering with emphasis on bridge and structural design.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 10–15 years' experience as a bridge or structural design engineer, including bridge, retaining wall, foundation, and culvert design.
• Advanced experience using structural analysis and design software.
• Experience with AASHTO standards; Nebraska/Iowa/South Dakota bridge design experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead bridge and structural design projects ranging from small drainage structures to large multi-span bridges.
• Serve as senior project engineer and client contact; participate in interviews, meetings, and presentations.
• Support construction through submittals, RFIs, and field visits for contract compliance.
• Prepare budgets, estimates, scoping, marketing strategies, and forecast workload for internal staff.
• Lead structural design efforts for complex transportation projects; produce proposals, reports, specs, plans, and designs.
• Ensure quality system tasks per the quality manual.
• Utilize software to review and prepare engineering and design documents.
