Job summary

NEI Electric Power Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Protection Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert in protection, short-circuit analysis, and system modeling.

The role supports utility clients at facility and grid cluster levels, with emphasis on transmission-level protection and generator protection. Advanced proficiency with ASPEN OneLiner and PSSCAPE is required; experience with arc-flash, harmonic, NERC compliance, and grounding studies is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with electric-power emphasis.
• Five+ years of protection engineering and power-system studies experience.
• Strong expertise in transmission-level protection or generator protection.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection-related studies, modeling, and analysis.
• Develop and validate short-circuit models in ASPEN OneLiner, PSSCAPE, or similar tools.
• Perform interconnection and cluster studies for utilities.
• Evaluate fault current, relay coordination, and equipment duties.
• Prepare technically defensible study reports with risks and mitigations.
