Job summary

City of Austin's Austin Energy seeks a senior electrical engineer to perform complex power system analyses, including protective coordination, fault studies, load flows, and reliability assessments. You will develop designs, drawings, circuit maps, and control diagrams for transmission and distribution projects, and support market operations and SCADA/EMS.

The role requires familiarity with NERC, FERC, ERCOT, and TX PUC standards, plus proficiency with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, and related engineering

Qualifications

• Performs advanced power system analyses including protective coordination, fault studies, load flows and voltage stability.
• Develops engineering designs, drawings, circuit maps, control diagrams and related documents for transmission and distribution systems.
• Provides technical leadership for major projects and coordinates with field personnel for energization.

Responsibilities

• Develops and reviews standards, equipment specifications and test procedures.
• Assists in budget inputs and regulatory reporting to agencies (NERC, FERC, ERCOT, TX PUC).
• Maintains knowledge of utility industry codes and standards; conducts complex engineering calculations.
