Job summary

CenterPoint Energy in Houston is seeking an Electrical Engineer to perform advanced transmission system analyses, including steady-state power flow, short circuit, transient stability, and voltage stability studies. You will update models and engage with ERCOT and NERC groups.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and at least two years in electric utility or power engineering, with hands-on calculations and design experience. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Perform power flow studies to determine system improvements needed to maintain transmission system reliability.
• Perform short circuit studies to determine system improvements needed to maintain transmission system reliability.
• Perform stability studies to determine system improvements needed to maintain transmission system reliability.
• Update power flow models to reflect changes in topology, resources and load.
• Represent CenterPoint Energy on applicable ERCOT and NERC working groups, user groups and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure compliance to applicable NERC standards, produce compliance reports and participate in audit activities.
• Work cooperatively and jointly with other departments within the company.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
