Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Principal Consultant to lead and expand our T&D Engineering and Consulting Division. This remote role suits a highly experienced engineer who can independently perform complex power system studies, mentor peers, and drive business growth across power system modeling projects.

The role requires 8–14 years of engineering experience, leadership capabilities, and proficiency with power system simulation tools and scripting.

Qualifications

• 8–14 years engineering experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred; higher degree considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute power flow, transient stability, short-circuit, EMT, harmonics, and techno-economic studies for transmission, distribution, load, and generation.
• Guide script development and troubleshooting to improve study efficiency.
• Advance team capabilities and ensure high-quality, timely deliverables.
• Apply power system standards, tariffs, rules, and guidelines grounded in first principles.
• Safeguard confidentiality and comply with agreements.
• Coordinate with support staff for proper project setup and closeout.
• Review time logs weekly and flag budget risks.
• Organize meetings with prepared materials to address workload concerns.
• Ensure accurate time reporting to support cost recognition and payroll.
• Maintain communication with leadership on ongoing needs and projects.
