Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Principal Consultant to lead and expand the T&D Engineering and Consulting Division in a remote role. The ideal candidate will independently perform complex power system studies, mentor peers, shape technical direction, and ensure high-quality deliverables across a diverse portfolio.

You will guide scripting and tooling, stay current with tariffs and standards, manage confidential information, coordinate with support staff, monitor budgets and timelines, and communicate

Qualifications

• 8–14 years of relevant engineering experience required.
• Hands-on experience with power system simulation tools and scripting.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex, abstract problems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for technical reporting and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute studies in power flow, transient stability, short-circuit, EMT, harmonics, and techno-economics for transmission, distribution, load, and generation.
• Guide script development and troubleshooting processes to improve study efficiency and reduce rework.
• Advance capabilities and knowledge within the team and ensure high-quality, timely deliverables.
• Apply and expand knowledge of power system standards, tariffs, rules, and guidelines, grounded in first principles.
• Safeguard and manage technical and commercial information with strict confidentiality and compliance with agreements.
