Job summary

Georgia Transmission Cooperative is seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer, Technical Lead to perform transmission planning studies, model power systems, and support reliability in the electric grid. The role requires a PE license and an advanced degree in Power Systems Engineering, with 6-8+ years in utility planning.

You will lead analyses, prepare technical reports, and coordinate with other departments, while participating in industry committees and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• BSEE, Power Systems required; Licensed PE and advanced degree in Power Systems Engineering.
• 6-8+ years of electric utility power systems analysis or planning focused on transmission system planning.
• Proven experience with power system transmission analysis tools such as PSSE, TARA, EMT, PSCAD or other similar analysis software
• Effective communicator who develops relationships, works cross-functionally and communicates persuasively
• Strong understanding of reliability, load flow, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients.

Responsibilities

• Perform power system modeling and analysis in assigned areas using industry standard and custom software
• Develop and coordinate transmission solutions that promote system reliability and resiliency
• Develop technical reports, capital project scopes and justifications, and other procedural documentation
• Participate in industry committees and transmission planning collaboratives with other electric entities as assigned
• Coordinate with capital project development and budgeting processes
• Timely completion of required deliverables with a high level of quality
