Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (AQN), parent company of Liberty, seeks a Senior Planning Engineer to lead engineering analyses for transmission and distribution planning and to coordinate with system operators and regulatory bodies.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of utility planning experience and familiarity with PSS/E/CYMEDIST and NERC standards, plus strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of utility planning experience.
• Experience with PSS/E and CYMEDIST preferred; familiarity with NERC standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication; analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering analyses for load flow, short circuit, and planning studies.
• Coordinate data with Southwest Power Pool, NERC, and state PSCs.
• Develop and maintain databases for load flow and facility ratings.
• Assist in cost estimation for transmission and distribution projects.
• Provide technical leadership and coordinate with internal/external partners.
