Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Senior Transmission Design Engineer for Cary, NC to design high-voltage lines, mentor teammates, and coordinate with clients to ensure code and specification compliance. Hybrid work arrangement available with office and remote days, plus relocation support.

The ideal candidate has ABET-accredited BS, 12+ years in transmission design, and expertise with PLS-CADDs and relevant standards. This role emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and client-focused design delivery.

Qualifications

BS degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
12+ years of transmission design experience.
Experience with scopes of work, design basis, equipment selection, calculations, and specifications.
Experience with 69kV–500kV transmission lines and client interaction.
Knowledge of NESC, IEC, IEEE, ANSI, ASCE standards.
Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
Mentor and train design team members.
Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information meeting client requirements and company formats.
Perform independent reviews of work including calculations and transmission line models (PLS-CADD).
Adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.
