Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior transmission design engineer in Tampa, FL to lead design efforts for high-voltage projects, mentor teammates, and ensure compliance with client specifications and company processes. The role blends office collaboration with field-ready design practices and strong client interaction.

Applicants should bring 10+ years of experience, an ABET-accredited engineering degree, and proficiency with PLS-CADD to deliver scalable, safe, and economical transmission

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering BS degree required.
• 10+ years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, development of conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations/specifications.
• Experience working with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations comply with specs, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly and meet client requirements and S&L formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work including calculations and PLS-CADD models.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes.
