Job summary

RRC in Austin/Round Rock, Texas, is seeking a Transmission Line Designer IV to join our growing energy projects team. You will perform transmission line design in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, develop project drawings, BOMs, and foundation details, and ensure designs meet client specifications.

You will interpret standards from RRC and industry, collaborate with senior engineers, mentor designers, and occasionally participate in project site visits.

Qualifications

• Associates or technical school degree or combination of education and relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in transmission line engineering design.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE (wood, steel, and concrete).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of design codes, standards, and guidelines such as NESC, RUS, and ASCE 7, material procurement process, and construction work packages.
• Must be authorized for full-time work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission line design in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE (wood, steel, and concrete).
• Develop project drawings and documents including, but not limited to, plan and profiles, bill of materials, assembly details, foundation details.
• Interpret and apply RRC, client, and industry standards to independently execute projects/tasks, using sound judgment in design evaluation and criteria selection, with oversight and guidance from senior engineers.
• Ensure designs meet project specifications, design requirements, and company quality standards.
• Contribute to the creation, improvement, and implementation of internal design procedures and standards.
• Mentor and train designers/technicians and share technical expertise.
• Project site-visits are possible on occasion.
