Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
• A minimum of five years' professional experience in an engineering field, preferably transmission engineering.
• Experience with transmission design software including: PLS CADD, PLS POLE, and MFAD.
• Familiarity with engineering and design software such as AutoCAD; familiarity with industry standards, safety standards, and current design codes, especially NESC.
• Proficient Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Excellent time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of Structural Analysis, Structural Steel and Wood Pole Design, Soil Mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission line engineering and design work on projects including new lines, refurbishments, and reconductoring.
• Conduct field inspections, determine cost effective solutions, and develop reports based on codes and safety practices.
• Conduct engineering studies and investigations to recommend corrective action.
• Specify, order, and coordinate material delivery; review vendor calculations.
• Support environmental and permitting efforts.
• Prepare project specifications and develop procedures and technical documents.
• Collaborate with diverse project teams to deliver on time, within scope and budget.
• Proactively build relationships with stakeholders to share information benefiting National Grid and customers.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Investigate adoption of new and innovative technologies.
