Job summary

EDP Renewables in Houston, TX, is seeking a Transmission Senior Associate to lead power-system transmission analysis and SECD modeling. You will focus on LMP and congestion analysis to support hedging strategies, working with operations and asset management to minimize risks.

You will track market rules, engage with developers to ensure adequate transmission, and represent EDPR in regional meetings. This role requires deep knowledge of PSSE, Dayzer/UPLAN, and FERC policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years in the utility industry; generation interconnection experience preferred.
• Experience in nodal markets and LMP forecasting tools (Dayzer or UPLAN, Promod, etc.).
• Thorough knowledge of FERC, OATT, OTD, RTOP, and NERC policies.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software; PSSE and Power Flow software.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Project preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission modeling and SCED analysis using Dayzer, PSS/E (or other) and provide congestion and basis forecasts.
• Track transmission and generation outages/upgrades and model their impact.
• Provide transmission strategy guidance to developers and operations teams.
• Ensure market rule changes favor EDPR’s portfolio and adapt strategies accordingly.
• Work with project developers to secure adequate transmission access for competitiveness.
• Support Market Operations and Energy Management on transmission-related matters.
• Mitigate transmission risks within EDPR’s portfolio and respond to queries from negotiations staff.
• Manage EDPR’s TRS queues and TSR portfolio; engage in regional meetings.
