Job summary

City of Charlotte’s Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) seeks a Senior Engineer to lead engineering for the Silver Line Light Rail project and related efforts. You will coordinate with internal divisions, federal agencies, and stakeholders to ensure design, safety, and quality standards are met from planning through delivery.

The role involves technical oversight, cross‑disciplinary coordination, and representing the project in public meetings and coordination sessions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• PE license required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee engineering activities for light rail infrastructure, systems, and facilities.
• Review consultant and contractor submittals, drawings, calculations, and specs.
• Ensure compliance with FTA CIG requirements and project controls.
• Coordinate design submittals, construction bid documents, and comment resolution.
• Prepare and maintain essential project documents and plans.
