Job summary

The City of Charlotte's Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) seeks an Assistant Manager of Rail Transportation to lead rail dispatch and field operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant service. You will coordinate staff, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement within a fast-paced transit environment.

Reporting to the Manager of Rail Transportation, this role partners with control center, maintenance, and safety teams to execute complex service changes and uphold

Qualifications

• Associate degree in transportation, business administration, public administration, operations, or related field.
• Four years of experience in rail transportation operations or related field.
• Experience leading staff, field supervision, or dispatch leadership.
• Ability to work varying hours including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily rail transportation operations and dispatch staff.
• Coordinate staffing, shift coverage, and field assignments.
• Monitor delays and assess service impacts.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
