Job summary

Altera seeks a technically strong Transceivers & Protocol IP Application Engineer to be based in San Jose, California. This role advises customers through architecture, IP selection, implementation, hardware bring-up, validation, and production readiness.

You will work with Ethernet, PCIe, JESD204B/C, CPRI/eCPRI, Interlaken, DisplayPort, HDMI, and other high-speed protocols, applying hands-on FPGA design and debugging across tools and environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• Experience in FPGA applications, high-speed digital design, and IP development.
• Hands-on FPGA design flows and hardware debugging with Quartus Prime or similar.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on high-speed transceivers and protocol IP architecture and configuration.
• Support designs across Ethernet, PCIe, JESD204B/C, CPRI/eCPRI, and other protocols.
• Review system architectures, RTL, constraints, and timing with customers.
• Reproduce and debug issues using Quartus Prime, System Console, and lab tools.
• Own cases from analysis to resolution with clear documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on product and documentation improvements.
• Deliver training, workshops, and hands-on enablement for customers and teams.
• Participate in pre-enablement and release-readiness activities.
