Job summary

The role requires a civil engineering degree and five years of related experience with signal systems, phasing, and controller programming. PE licensure is preferred and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field and five years of experience in traffic signal systems and coordination.
• Experience reading and developing phasing diagrams, timing diagrams and signal timing; knowledge of ITS.
• Ability to read signal cabinet wiring diagrams is desirable.
• PE license in AZ preferred or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Lead coordination of traffic signal operations across Valley Metro and external agencies.
• Review plans for new traffic signal installations and optimize signal timing to improve flow.
• Model and validate timing improvements using signal controllers and testing tools.
• Evaluate ITS technologies and recommend applications to improve reliability.
• Develop technical reports, specifications, and compliance documents.
