Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) is seeking a Traffic Practice Leader to guide traffic engineering efforts, support a range of transportation projects, and help build a strong local team.

This role is ideal for an experienced traffic engineer with 15+ years, PE preferred, and the ability to lead, mentor staff, coordinate with municipalities and state agencies, and grow MSG’s Pennsylvania presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field.
• PE preferred; ability to obtain PA PE if not licensed.
• 15+ years of traffic engineering experience; prior consulting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic engineering tasks including traffic studies, capacity analysis, modeling, signal design, safety studies, and corridor evaluations.
• Prepare reports, technical memos, plans, and supporting documentation.
• Manage and oversee traffic components for roadway and planning projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Develop signal timing plans, ITS layouts, signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic control plans.
• Use analysis and modeling tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, or related software.
• Collaborate closely with roadway, structural, planning, survey, and environmental groups.
• Train, mentor, and support junior traffic staff.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and coordination with municipalities and state agencies.
• Support proposal development, scoping, and business development efforts as MSG expands its Pennsylvania presence.
• Ensure compliance with PennDOT, MUTCD, and AASHTO requirements.
