Department: Transportation | Location: Cranberry, PA. MSG is growing its Transportation practice throughout Pennsylvania with active expansion in our Hermitage, Cranberry, and Waynesburg offices. We are seeking a Traffic Practice Leader to guide traffic engineering efforts, support a range of transportation projects, and help build a strong local team. This role is ideal for an experienced traffic engineer interested in technical leadership and practice growth within a developing market.

Responsibilities
  • Lead traffic engineering tasks including traffic studies, capacity analysis, modeling, signal design, safety studies, and corridor evaluations.
  • Prepare reports, technical memos, plans, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage and oversee traffic components for roadway and planning projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop signal timing plans, ITS layouts, signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic control plans.
  • Use analysis and modeling tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, or related software.
  • Collaborate closely with roadway, structural, planning, survey, and environmental groups.
  • Train, mentor, and support junior traffic staff.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and coordination with municipalities and state agencies.
  • Support proposal development, scoping, and business development efforts as MSG expands its Pennsylvania presence.
  • Ensure compliance with PennDOT, MUTCD, and AASHTO requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred; ability to obtain PA PE if not already licensed.
  • 15+ years of traffic engineering experience; prior consulting experience required.
  • Proficiency with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of MUTCD standards, PennDOT requirements, and traffic engineering principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on PennDOT projects or local municipal clients.
  • PTOE certification.
  • Experience contributing to or leading traffic teams in a consulting environment.
