Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field with eight years of experience or equivalent.
• Must possess, or obtain within six months, a Virginia Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Preferred Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Streetlighting and Wayfinding programs and manage installed traffic control devices.
• Manage inventories of traffic control devices and scheduling of preventive maintenance.
• Review traffic control plans and construction plans; develop standards and specifications.
• Coordinate with field staff, contractors, and other City divisions to align Smart Mobility goals.
• Manage contracts and procurement; oversee inventory for installed devices.
• Develop solicitations for materials and services in collaboration with procurement.
• Investigate future compatibility of traffic control devices with autonomous and self-driving technology.
