Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join the South Carolina Area Transportation Business Group in Charleston. You’ll lead a team of engineers to deliver traffic studies, modeling, and design support that improve mobility and safety.

Responsibilities include operational traffic analysis with multiple tools, signal design and timing, cost estimates, and mentoring junior staff. A PE license and 10+ years in ITS/traffic are required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years' ITS and traffic engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer license (PE or P.Eng) is required.
• Knowledge of state and federal transportation regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and traffic analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers and EITs to deliver traffic-related projects.
• Perform traffic operations analysis using various modeling tools.
• Participate in signal design and timing projects, prepare plans and cost estimates.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior staff.
