Job summary

HDR’s Transportation Business Group in South Carolina seeks a Senior Roadway Engineer to design urban and rural roadway projects and guide teams through feasibility, design, and construction phases.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of roadway experience, PE license, and strong leadership and communication skills, with CAD proficiency and project-management capabilities to serve diverse clients in Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 10 years in roadway engineering design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills; ability to work with diverse teams.
• Project management skills are desirable.
• Experience includes urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans.
• Coordination of survey, grading, drainage and utilities considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve in a technical role under a Project Manager for roadway projects.
• Oversee CAD designers and possibly EITs.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway projects.
• Participate from feasibility analysis through final design and construction.
• Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
