Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer for the South Carolina Area Transportation Business Group in Charleston. You will lead a team of engineers, perform capacity analyses, traffic forecasting, and signal timing projects, while mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in ITS/traffic engineering, and a PE license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board for the position location (e.g., PE or P.Eng).
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering preferred; PTOE and/or RSP licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers and EITs to deliver traffic-related projects, including capacity analysis reports and traffic forecasting.
• Conduct operational traffic analysis using modeling tools and analyze arterial and interstate corridors.
• Participate in traffic signal design and timing projects, draft signal plans and prepare cost estimates.
• Provide technical support to junior staff and mentor team members.
