Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to join HDR’s South Carolina Transportation Business Group. You will be responsible for technical roadway design under a Project Manager, oversee CAD Designers, and prepare detailed layouts for urban and rural projects.

Candidates should have a PE license, 10+ years of roadway design experience, and strong leadership. The role supports collaboration across transportation disciplines within HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years' experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design.
• Professional Engineer license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (PE).
• Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams.
• Project management skills desirable.
• Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans.
• Must have coordinated survey, grading, drainage and utilities; layout of site items is a plus.
• Active participation in our employee-owned culture is essential.

Responsibilities

• Serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects
• Oversee the work of CAD Designers, and possibly EITs
• Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects
• Participate in activities ranging from site feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase
• Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed
• Perform other duties as needed
